Start of the Event: 6.30 PM
Venue: Klaipėda Concert Hall Ground Floor Foyer
Gwendolyn Masin (violin, the Netherlands / Switzerland)
Gleb Pyšniak (cello)
Baiba Osina (piano, Latvia / Austria)
Programme: George Frideric Handel–Johan Halvorsen, Robert Schumann, Maurice Ravel, Piotr Tchaikovsky
The initiator behind this programme is Gleb Pyšniak, a cellist with an insatiable passion for music and performing. A highly gifted musician, he is also active as an entrepreneur: besides playing in the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, he continues to travel on his own, collaborate with various musicians in many countries, and initiate remarkable chamber projects.
When asked about the idea behind this programme, Gleb told about his musical acquaintances: “I once visited a festival in Switzerland directed by Gwendolyn Masin and remembered her as a very charismatic violinist ever since then. Every now and again I would imagine how great it would be to play together. As luck would have it, an opportunity occurred to invite her to prepare a programme together and visit Lithuania for the first time. What concerns Baiba Osina she is a fantastic Latvian pianist and chamber musician, now resident of Vienna. We have played together in concerts a lot.
Half of the programme, entitled “Romantic Fantasies”, consists of the duos for violin and piano, violin and cello, cello and piano, while the other half will feature the grand Piano Trio by Piotr Tchaikovsky, which still enthrals the listeners by tumultuous emotions so characteristic of a Romantic era.”
