“Vernal Waltzes,” a programme to be presented by the Klaipėda Choir “Aukuras” together with the Sonata and Rokas Zubovas Piano Duo, will bring a waft of fresh sounds into your souls. Half of this programme is dedicated to Claude Debussy, a major figure in French impressionism and a remarkable painter in sound, commemorating the centennial of his death (which falls on March 25th). Among the featured works are his Six épigraphes antiques and Printemps for piano duo.
The second half focuses on the theme of love, featuring Brahms’s Liebeslieder Waltzes and heady Liebeslied by American contemporary composer John Corigliano.
Formed two decades ago, the family piano duo consisting of Sonata and Rokas Zubovas, has regularly contributed innovative ideas and presentation formats to the country’s classical music scene. They also have more than once given concerts at the Klaipėda Concert Hall.
A programme of waltzes oozing with vernal freshness and songs bursting with amorous moods will be conducted by Alfonsas Vildžiūnas, artistic director of the Klaipėda Choir “Aukuras”.
